I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

I AM NOT A SOUL

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM NOT A BODY

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

Matthew 16:13

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[b] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[c] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

Sometimes we’re overcome by the challenges, difficulties, and defeats we experience that we begin to play the game of life simply “not to lose” instead of “playing to win!”

Jesus Christ says go on offense attack!

Christ’s mandate to go on the offensive is spoken in His description of the church, …and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Mt. 16:18c). Gates don’t take territory they defend it from those on offense making an attack.

We are to take the fight to the enemy. God cannot use us to build His kingdom as long as we are in a state of being harassed by the enemy. Simply defending ourselves means we are not advancing the kingdom

Our response to Christ’s mandate is largely determined by our response to Christ’s question, “But what about you?” … “Who do you say I am?”

  1. Matthew 16:18 Hades is the realm of the dead
    1. Hades lies within the earth, so that one has to go down to it. It is a prison and is locked with a key which Christ holds in his hand (Rev. 1:18 – …”I hold the keys of death and Hades.). The gates “will not close to imprison (in death) those who belong to the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
    2. You’ve already won! I’VE ALREADY WON!
  2. Matthew 16:19 will be bound…loosed Or will have been bound…loosed
    1. We are spirits who have souls and live in bodies.
    2. We can call that which is real in the spirit realm into reality into the physical realm.
      1. This is what we do when we pray the prayer of faith
      2. This is what we do when we prophesy
      3. This is what we do when we heal
      4. This is what we do when we operate by faith and not by sight
    3. We do the bidding/will of God here on earth. THATS GOING ON OFFENSE!

DEFENSE

the enemy will come at you IMMEDIATELY BEFORE GOD USES YOU OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER!

  1. Tell the story of the member who was feeling as if something was pulling her down and depressing her.
    1. Further examination disclosed this began after this leader had effectively lead others is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
    2. She had no reason to feel this way and she came seeking relief.
  2. It is the story of Peter:
    1. Proclaiming, 16You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
    2. Followed by, 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
  3. If I can get them to quit.
  4. Get them to turn bitter and negative.
  5. Get them to stop blessing others.
  6. Get them to abandon God and God’s plan.
  7. The enemy’s goal is to block the work of the Father.

But God!
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:12)

So we fight from victory, not for victory

Jesus has already defeated Satan and given us the victory. You have already won! Your healing. Your deliverance. Your freedom. Your family. Your finances. Your marriage. Your job. It makes a difference when you know you fight from victory instead for victory.  It’s time to go on offense!

GO ON OFFENSE

  1. II Corinthians 10: 4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; (KJV)
    1. God has given us spiritual weapons to go on offense.
    2. The weapons God gives us are supernatural possessing the very power of God.
    3. God connects us (spirits) with Himself (Spirit) through our use of the weapons God gives us for the pulling down of strong holds.

I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

PRAYER AS OUR WEAPON WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE PRAY!

The destination and application of our prayers

  1. Revelation 5: 6-8Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders… He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

    1. Destination – golden bowls in the hands of the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders who serve in the throne room of God.
    2. Application – presented to the risen Jesus as a sweet aroma in the nostrils of the Messiah

“The anointing which you have received from Jesus abides in you and is released into your situation when you call upon His name.” Pastor Joseph Prince

  1. Matthew 16: 19 – (Paraphrase) – I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; [whatever has been bound in heaven you will bind on earth, and whatever has been loosed in heaven you will loose on earth].
    1. We are to release what has already been released in heaven.
    2. We are to bind what has already been bound in heaven.
  2. Philippians 2: 5-8 – …have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
    1. Jesus is God and the very substance of God (v. 6a)
    2. Jesus did not choose to retain his divine capacities in order to come to earth. (v. 6b)
    3. Jesus emptied Himself and took on the nature of a slave – “doulos” (v. 7a)
    4. Jesus put on a body to be contained in – it’s only the container! (v. 7b)
    5. The One who came from heaven to earth as a man went to the cross! (v. 8)

Jesus Exhibits Spirit You Live as spirit

Jesus Comes to Us as We

Live as Soul and Body

  1. Matthew 3: 16-17 –  As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
    1. Jesus is then ANOINTED by God, the Holy Spirit to fulfill His mission on earth
    2. ANOINTING – the conveying of the authority and power of God the Father, through God the Son, by God the Holy Spirit to do the works of the God.
    3. Jesus is the “Anointed One”, the “Christ of God.”
  2. John 14: 12-14 – Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
    1. Jesus has gone back to the Father and sent to us the Holy Spirit (v. 12b)
    2. God’s Spirit connects with our spirit as we are anointed through the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 1-4)
    3. We are anointed to do greater things than Jesus (v. 12a)
    4. When we call on Jesus’ name, we release His anointing (authority and power) to do greater works than His.
    5. So when you call upon the name of Jesus, you are releasing His anointing.
      1. Call upon His name when you are feeling down and His anointing will lift your spirit up.
      2. If you are feeling dry and empty, just say, “Jesus, Jesus.” Before you know it, a river of refreshing will gush forth as His anointing flows.
      3. Call upon His name when you need a breakthrough and His anointing will release it to you.
      4. Romans 10: 13 says that “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”.
        1. So call on Jesus’ name and watch His anointing release your deliverance,
        2. healing,
        3. protection and
        4. prosperity,
        5. and make you whole!

PRAYER IS CALLING ON THE NAME OF JESUS TO RELEASE HIS ANOINTING ON EARTH!

PRAYER IS GOING ON OFFENSE!
