I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

I AM NOT A SOUL

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM NOT A BODY

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

Matthew 16:13

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[b] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[c] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

  1. Matthew 16: 19 – (Paraphrase) – I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; [whatever has been bound in heaven you will bind on earth, and whatever has been loosed in heaven you will loose on earth].
    1. We are to release what has already been released in heaven.
    2. We are to bind what has already been bound in heaven.
    3. We are spirits who have souls and live in bodies.
    4. We can call that which is real in the spirit realm into reality into the physical realm.
      1. This is what we do when we pray the prayer of faith
      2. This is what we do when we prophesy
      3. This is what we do when we heal
      4. This is what we do when we operate by faith and not by sight
    5. We do the bidding/will of God here on earth.
  2. The enemy attempts to get us to rely on our own resources, strengths and abilities and to leave God out of our endeavors and activities!
    1. Genesis 11: 1-8 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech… They said to each other, … “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves….” … The Lord said, “… Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
    2. The goal of the enemy is to render God’s people ineffective and powerless in our dealings so God gets no glory from our living.
    3. So, we struggle to achieve by hard work and self-effort what only be accomplished with God.
    4. We attempt to bring about by our own efforts what is “already released in heaven.”
    5. This does not mean we are not to work. It means we are to apply our tools of prayer and faith in God.
    6. Kenneth Copeland described churches growing and thriving because of Holy Spirit’s operation. He said others are not because they rely on themselves.
      1. Isaiah 2: 8“Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.”
      2. No one today would say we worship idols, but when we operate as soul or body, not putting these two tools under the authority of our spirit, who is connected to God’s Spirit, we are leaving God out of our endeavors and activities.
      3. You are a spirit who has a soul and you live in a body.
        1. Soul under authority of spirit.
        2. Body under authority of spirit as articulated through the soul.
      4. All things we are called by God to build, do, or accomplish succeed when God is the builder.

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS A HOUSE!

  1. Psalm 127: 1-2 – Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
    1. Just as Hebrews 11: 6“…And without faith it is impossible to please God”, really tells us that “faith pleases God”, Psalm 127a-b – “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”, expresses “When God builds a house it prospers!”
    2. The Hebrew concept of house included family, employees, servants, business interests.
    3. Psalm 127 – A song of ascents. Of Solomon.
      1. Some believe to have been part of 15 songs (Psalm 120 – 134) sung by pilgrims going to Jerusalem for the three appointed festivals which are descriptive of our dependence on God.
      2. Pesach (Passover) –  Israelites were to sacrifice a lamb and place its blood above their doorposts of their houses as a sign that the angel of judgment passed over them when they were in Egypt, sparing their lives. After the Egyptians had received judgment, they admonished Israel to leave immediately. In preparation for this exodus, the people were to make bread without leaven, for it had no time to rise. They were to eat their meal in haste knowing that the following day would be the day of their deliverance. The blood above the doorposts and bread without leaven are representative of the sinless Jesus Christ, the Passover lamb sacrificed and whose blood is placed on the doorpost of our hearts for the redemption of God’s people.
To be saved from the death angel persons had to be in the
        house (Exodus 12:22).
        GET FOLK IN THE HOUSE!
      3. Shavuot (Weeks or Pentecost) – God’s spirit descended upon Sinai at Pentecost in Exodus 19, offering Israel prevenient grace in the form of the Law and a call to holiness. God established His household, the nation of Israel. In the same way, the Holy Spirit was sent upon the Church at Pentecost in Acts 2, offering the apostles in the house and all who would follow prevenient grace enabling us to respond to His call to holiness. God established His people of the New Covenant – the Church!
      4. Sukkot (Tabernacles, Tents or Booths) – The purpose of the Feast of Booths was to remember the giving of the Law and to renew the covenant made between Israel and the LORD (Duet. 31:10-13). Live in temporary shelters (houses) for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters [houses] (Leviticus 23: 42). The Prophet Zechariah references the Feast of Booths eschatologically, metaphorically describing a time where all nations would come into covenant with the LORD or be wiped out (Zech 14).  This is representative of Jesus Christ’s return to earth at the end of the age. We are only on this earth temporarily for it is not our eternal home.
      5. Each of these festivals pointed to the future and acknowledges dependence on God by God’s people.
        1. Our salvation comes from God! (Passover)
        2. Our power to live for God today as His church comes from God! (Pentecost)
        3. Our eternal destiny is established by God! (Tabernacles)
        4. When God builds the house there’s salvation!
        5. When God builds the house there’s power!
        6. When God builds the house it lasts forever!

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS A HOUSE!

HE MEETS ALL OF OUR NEEDS!

  1. Psalm 127: 2 –In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
    1. Psalm 127: 2a – In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat…
      1. This approach again, leaves God out of our endeavors and activities.
      2. This approach results in a fear-based decision making rooted in lack!
      3. Instead, have a vision of God’s abundant provision!
    2. Psalm 127:2b – …for he grants sleep to those he loves
      1. Translation includes: for while they sleep he provides for those He loves.
      2. GOD LOVES ME!
      3. Philippians 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
