I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

I AM NOT A SOUL

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM NOT A BODY

I AM A SPIRIT

I AM A SPIRIT WHO HAS A SOUL AND I LIVE IN A BODY!

Matthew 16:13

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[b] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[c] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

  1. Matthew 16: 19 – (Paraphrase) – I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; [whatever has been bound in heaven you will bind on earth, and whatever has been loosed in heaven you will loose on earth].
    1. We are to release what has already been released in heaven.
    2. We are to bind what has already been bound in heaven.
    3. We are spirits who have souls and live in bodies.
    4. We can call that which is real in the spirit realm into reality into the physical realm.
      1. This is what we do when we pray the prayer of faith
      2. This is what we do when we prophesy
      3. This is what we do when we heal
      4. This is what we do when we operate by faith and not by sight
    5. We do the bidding/will of God here on earth.
  2. The enemy attempts to get us to rely on our own resources, strengths and abilities and to leave God out of our endeavors and activities!
    1. I Samuel 15: 17b-23 …The Lord anointed you king over Israel. 18 And he sent you on a mission…19 Why did you not obey the Lord? …20 “But I did obey the Lord,” Saul said. “… I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. 21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle … in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.” 22 But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.”
    2. The goal of the enemy is to render God’s people ineffective and powerless in our dealings so God gets no glory from our living.
    3. So, we struggle to achieve by hard work and self-effort what only be accomplished with God.
    4. We attempt to bring about by our own efforts what is “already released in heaven.”
    5. This does not mean we are not to work. It means we are to apply our tools of prayer and faith in God.
      1. You are a spirit who has a soul and you live in a body.
        1. Soul under authority of spirit.
        2. Body under authority of spirit as articulated through the soul.
      2. All things we are called by God to build, do, or accomplish succeed when God is the builder.

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE!

  1. Psalm 127: 1-2 – Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
    1. Just as Hebrews 11: 6“…And without faith it is impossible to please God”, really tells us that faith pleases God, Psalm 127a-b “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”, expresses When God builds the house it prospers!
    2. The Hebrew concept of house included family, employees, servants, business interests.

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE!

HE MEETS ALL OF OUR NEEDS!

  1. Psalm 127: 2 –In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
    1. Psalm 127: 2a – In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat…
      1. This approach again, leaves God out of our endeavors and activities.
      2. This approach results in a fear-based decision making rooted in lack!
      3. Instead, have a vision of Gods abundant provision!
    2. Psalm 127:2b – …for he grants sleep to those he loves
      1. Translation includes: for while they sleep he provides for those He loves.
      2. Saul already possessed the victory over the Amalekites because God had granted it while he was asleep, before Saul ever entered the battle!
      3. GOD LOVES ME!
      4. Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE!

WE DO EVEN GREATER WORKS THAN JESUS!

  1. John 14: 12-14 – Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
    1. As a human being saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and baptized in the Holy Spirit, you are uniquely qualified, authorized and equipped to do “even greater things than these!”
    2. Philippians 2: 5-8In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
      1. When God decided to make major changes on earth and bring salvation to the entire human race, God went back to His OLD BLUEPRINT He used at the time of creation.
      2. Because you are a spirit, who has a soul, and lives in a body, you are that created being that connects spiritual, mental, and physical.
      3. God’s work of salvation required that God address the spirit, soul, and body of humankind, so in order to accomplish this God patterned Himself after the design found in the OLD BLUEPRINT God used when creating humankind.
      4. “…rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
    3. Jesus has gone back to the Father and sent to us the Holy Spirit (v. 12b)
    4. God’s Spirit connects with our spirit as we are anointed through the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 1-4)
    5. We are anointed to do greater things than Jesus (v. 12a)
    6. ANOINTING – the conveying of the authority and power of God the Father, through God the Son, by God the Holy Spirit to do the work of God to glorify God.
    7. When we call on Jesus’ name, we release His anointing (authority and power) to do greater works than His.
    8. So when you call upon the name of Jesus, you are releasing His anointing.

WHEN THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE!

GOD BLESSES WHAT WE SET OUR HANDS TO!

  1. Deuteronomy 28: 8“The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
    1. This means that whatever you touch, whatever you set your hands to, God will command the blessing of God upon it, be it a person, thing or business.
      1. If you touch your child, she is blessed.
      2. If you touch the musical instrument or the mic, anointed music flows forth.
      3. If you touch your business, it prospers.
      4. When you touch a sick person, he gets healed.
      5. When you touch someone who is facing lack, his needs are met.
      6. When you touch a congregation that is dying, it has life.
      7. When you touch a church building that is deteriorating, it is restored.
      8. When you touch a community that is in conflict, it finds peace.
    2. All you put your hand to is blessed
      1. Ministry blessed and anointed by God
      2. Matthew 8: 3 Jesus touched leper – so will you.
      3. This congregation is anointed by God to touch the world around us.
      4. Because Jesus lives in you by His Spirit, what you touch will be blessed.
    3. II Corinthians 8: 1-5 – …their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. … They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
      1. Our giving will be of God when we give ourselves “first of all to the Lord.”
