In celebration of Black History Month Quinn Chapel welcomes retired Fire Chief Dekalb Walcott Jr. to discuss his new book " Black Heroes of Fire, The History of the First African-American Fire Company In Chicago, Fire Engine Company 21". The event will include a book discussion with Chief Walcott as well as Lorna Bradley a descendant of one of Chicago's oldest Black families, the Bond family. Ms. Bradley's ancestor, Hodd Bond, served as a fireman on Engine 21 and was killed in the line of duty in 1936. At the conclusion of the discussion, copies of Black Heroes of Fire will be available for purchase and Chief Walcott will be available to sign copies.
